I was born in Gary Indiana and moved to Burnsville Minnesota with my parents and 4 siblings. Although we were living the American dream in Gary, we knew early after vacationing in Minnesota that better opportunities were attainable in this great state. Growing up in Gary made me mentally tough. During the ‘80s, the city of Gary was hit with massive layoffs at the famous Indiana Steel Mill.
My dad and mom remained positive during the layoff and my dad perform odd jobs such as bricklaying jobs and roofing jobs to make ends meet. The benefit of having two Christian loving parents helped our family remain stable during a time of uncertainty. At the age of ten, I could feel and see the poverty across the city. Most of my friends and relatives were doing their best to stay afloat. I will always love the people of Gary Indiana, and cherish the many friendships made there. I will never forget my relatives and friends that were shot and killed due to senseless violence and gang activity.
WHO WILL HAVE ALL MEN TO BE SAVED, AND TO COME UNTO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH.
1 TIMOTHY 2:4
Those that know me understand my passion for leadership, the role of government, and policies that bring about great results. I was in the 5th grade by the time we moved to Minnesota. I went on to graduate from Burnsville High School, set varsity records in football, and pursued my dream of becoming a student athlete at the University of Minnesota. I earned a full scholarship at the University of Minnesota which resulted in me gaining full confidence in my God-given abilities and I developed social skills and overall higher education.
After my football days were over, I was encouraged by my wife Keshia, and others, to finish what I started and graduate from college. In 2012, I transferred to Bethel University and received my B.A. in Organizational Leadership from Bethel University.
After graduating from Bethel, I utilized my degree by obtaining several leadership positions in various companies and in Ministry. Currently, I am the Pastor of a true start-up church, Valour Ministries in Lakeville Minnesota. I have also been a small business owner since 2014 and know what it is like to sacrifice in order to start and maintain a business. Small business owners like me take great pride in creating jobs for our local communities and ensuring our employees have their needs met even if that means me getting paid last.
AND THE SECOND IS LIKE, NAMELY THIS, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS THYSELF. THERE IS NONE OTHER COMMANDMENT GREATER THAN THESE.
So, it is my goal to fight for and stand with entrepreneurs who simply want to chase their dreams and enjoy the fruits of their labor. I understand that good leadership means those who help lead us out of the mess and get back on track. Leadership affects all of us and I want to be a part of the solution.
